About Katie
Katie Macleod graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 2008 with an honours degree in Textiles. She specialised in Knit for the last two years of her course and also spent some time on placement with Tait and Style in Orkney.
Katie was born in Aberdeen, raised in Stirling and now lives in Glasgow. She has spent time overseas including working vacations in the USA.
Her designs shown here are from her degree show in Glasgow School of Art (16 June β 20 June 2008) and New Designers in London on 30 June β 6 July 2008.
βThe inspiration for my Honours collection came from the shapes, structures and graphic patterns I found in fishing ports, shipyards and in seaside funfairs and carnivals, while my colour was inspired by the stripes found on buoys and on rusty, oxidised panels of boats. By combining hand crafted techniques like Inlay with fine weighted silks and cashmeres I have developed a knitwear collection which is wearable, a little bit quirky, and most importantly fun.β
Katie is available for project work, collaborations and commissions.
